Suppliment: Items of Note

Pipes of the Twig Spirit
This is a simple set of pan pipes made of hollow reeds of varying lengths, bound together in seaweed and grass. Though it looks fragile at first, it is actually surprisingly sturdy. A character who has the Perform (wind instruments) skill can use these pipes to summon a small nature spirit, which requires a small amount of twigs, leaves, or other vegetable matter to animate and form a crude humanoid body. Summoning the twig spirit requires a Perform check (DC 10), and takes one full round. Once summoned, the twig spirit (or "twigling") is capable of performing tasks in the same manner as an unseen servant, for up to one hour. It is possible to summon it repeatedly in the same day, but the DC increases by 5 points each time. The twig spirit is a construct with six hit points and an AC of 10.

Additionally, once per week, a different tune can be played that causes the twigling to grow to massive porportions for one minute (and allowing it to fight). Treat this version of the twigling as a large animated object with a speed of 30'.

Moderate transmutation; CL 7th; Craft Wondrous Item, entangle, wood shape, command plants; Price 6,000gp.

Unfortunately no, it can't talk.. and it doesn't have any ranks in Performance (dance), but then again, neither does anyone else in the group. ^_^ I think a dancing twig spirit would be impressive enough to overcome low marks for technical merit.

The twig spirit can, as the description says, do basicly anything an Unseen Servant can, though it is somewhat limited in what it can reach. In retrospect I suppose I didn't mention that they're considered "tiny", at about a foot to two feet tall (it varies each time in size and appearance). It can pack a bag, feed an animal, stir a pot, set up or take down a tent, light a fire (they're very good at this), or just walk around and do silly tricks to amuse people.

The bigger twigling version is primarily for combat, but they're also skilled at manual labour (str 16).

Glad you like it. ^_^ I rather like it myself.. I like practical items.

The Fated Lovers
In every experienced bard's repertoire of stories and songs is some piece or another about the Fated Lovers: two spirits who so perfectly embody the essence of true love that they are destined to be reborn again and again, only to find each other against any and all odds in each new life. Tales and ballads about the Lovers are certainly popular, but few people take them to be true. Still, even skeptics will usually admit that even a tale as wild as that of the Fated Lovers is probably based on some kernel of truth.

Alheir, +3 parrying thinblade (intelligent)
De.scription: Alheir is a thinblade - a one-handed medium weapon that deals the base damage of a longsword (1d8 slashing and piercing), but retaining the qualities of a rapier (18-20/x2 critical hit rate and can be used in conjunction with Weapon Finesse). He is constructed from mithril, with the exception of his blade, which is made from a crystalline substance with the strength of diamond but the flexibility of fine steel.
Alheir has become a warrior in nearly every one of his past lives, and his elven life was no exception. He is noble, fearless and bold, but sometimes a little overconfident about the odds of a fight. Alheir identifies very strongly with the sword that houses his soul and tends to refer to the sword in the first person, unlike Ilsonna.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Int 10, Wis 17, Cha 17
Senses: telepathy, 120' sight, hearing and darkvision; speaks common and elven
Special Abilities:
- Alheir counts as an adamantine weapon for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction and item hardness.
- The "parrying" ability is from the Complete Psionics Handbook: it grants the wielder a +1 bonus to AC and saving throws when it is held, even if the wielder is flat-footed.
- Alheir can cast daze monster on any target he strikes in melee 3 times per day.

Ilsonna, scabbard of keen edges (intelligent)
De.scription: Ilsonna chose a scabbard to house her soul. It is long and slender, shaped so exactly for Alheir that no other sword will fit. She is made of darkwood bound with intricate designs in mithril that are not just decorative, but lend her great durability.
Ilsonna was a brilliant wizard in her mortal elven life and is responsible for the incredible ritual that sealed her and her love in the magical sword and scabbard. She is intelligent, patient and insightful, but quiet and even a little shy at times. Unlike Alheir, she misses mortal life and does not identify with the scabbard that contains her soul; she tends to refer to it as "the scabbard", rather than in the first person.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Int 17, Wis 17, Cha 10
Senses: telepathy, 120' sight, hearing and darkvision; speaks common, elven, draconic, sylvan and dwarven
Special Abilities: Like all scabbards of keen edges, Ilsonna can grant Alheir the effects of a keen edges spell 3 times per day. Unlike other scabbards of keen edges, Ilsonna cannot change her shape or size to accommodate any other weapon. Additionally, Ilsonna's wealth of knowledge grants her her wielder a +2 circumstance bonus on the following skill checks: Spellcraft, Knowledge (arcana), Knowledge (religion) and Knowledge (the planes).

Other Characteristics
In some ways the Fated Lovers are treated as one item.
Ego: When united, the Lovers have an Ego score of 20.
Special Purpose: The Lovers have a special purpose: to foster and defend love in every shape and form. This includes the platonic bonds of family and friendship as well as romantic ties.
Dedicated Powers: Alheir and Ilsonna can use the following powers when fulfilling their special purpose:
- Ilsonna can call Alheir to her from any distance, even across planes; this ability only affects Alheir and can only bring him to her, but is otherwise similar to a dimension door spell.
- Alheir can be drawn and sheathed as a free action.
- Alheir can cast hold monster on any creature he strikes in melee, once per day.
Other Powers: Alheir and Ilsonna can release themselves from the sword and scabbard for up to 10 minutes per day. When released, they effectively become ghosts, but have no special powers other than manifestation, and cannot travel more than 10' from the sword and scabbard. While in ghost form they cannot use any of their item powers, though Alheir still functions as a +3 adamantine thinblade.
Drawback: The Fated Lovers are unusually attached to their elven forms and will always attempt to use their Ego score to dominate non-elves (will save DC 20 or lose dominance). Characters and races with the elf blood characteristic count as elves (including ruathars).
