Introducing Ro'thek the Swift

Blackstone Prison is one of the many dirty little secrets of
the Empire. It is the deepest, darkest, dankest, hellhole imaginable and where the Empire houses a collection of hardened criminals, 'political' prisoners, and those unlucky few who simply needed to disappear. Blackstone Prison was one of those places that everyone has heard about but was unwilling to talk about in polite company. Poor living conditions, horrible nutrition, forced labor, and a brutal sadistic humanoid guard force ensured that no one ever escaped from Blackstone.

You are a prisoner at Blackstone. It may have been days, weeks, months, or even years since you were incarcerated, but the indominatable force of Blackstone is beginning to crush any hope you have that you will ever leave Blackstone alive.

Introducing Ro'thek the Swift

Post by chameleon » Mon October 17 05 ; 2 42 pm

Thek sits carefully against the wall of the cell. The youthful half-elf felt sore all over. He'd been in Blackstone for less than a week and had been involved in at least half a dozen fights, been beat by the guards at least three times, and whipped just yesterday.

Across the cell, Thek could see Claudius pointing at him and talking with a couple of his friends. One of the men Cladius was talking with was Brutus. No good was going to come of this.

Just yesterday, Thek had defended himself when Brutus tried to extort his dinner of undercooked gruel. In the course of the fight, Thek had broken Brutus' nose. Obviously the man or his friends were looking to exact some revenge for yesterdays damage.

Thek quickly rises to his feet when Cladius, Phillip, and Brutus make their way over to him. When they arrive in front of Thek, Cladius cracks his fingers and neck.

"Thek ... Are you beginning to think that maybe you made an error in judgement yesterday? You see Brutus here pays me for protection. Now you can either compensate me for your error in judgement or ..."

The man leaves the threat hanging in the air and takes a step closer to Thek.

"Well, maybe Brutus is paying the wrong person," Thek shoots at the group of brutes. He rotates his shoulders, trying to massage the pain of from his whipping wounds-still criss-crossing bright red across his back and shoulders.

Thek doesn't even have to think about what to do next. He'd played this game many times before and knew by now that getting the first shot was always important. So he took it, swinging right for Cladius' jaw, hoping to lay the big man low and even the odds.

Thek felt the satisfying crunch of bone on bone as his fist connects with Claudius' jaw. The man's head whips to one side and Claudius involuntarily takes a step back. Out of the corner of his eye, Thek sees Brutus launch a fist at his head.

Ducking just under the wild haymaker, Thek feels the air move as Brutus once again shows his ineptitude in a fight. Unfortunately for Thek, he can't dodge everyone and Phillip slips in a shot to Thek's ribs. Pain shoots through Thek's ribs only adding to the long list of the half-elf's pains.

Thek winces as his ribs come alive with pain. Luckily, none of the bones feel broken, but that may just be offset by the rush of adrenaline he feels right now. He moves closer to Brutus to try and capitalize on his ineptitude, but makes sure he is still able to attack Claudius.

Thek presses his attack and swings for Claudius again, hoping to keep the large man from even being able to get a swing in.

Cladius growls in anger and fires a jab straight into Thek's right eye. Thek felt the sting immediately. It was a good possibility that his opponent was trained in the pugilistic arts or maybe as a gladiator.

Once again, Thek's fist pops out at Claudius. This time it catches the bigger man square in the mouth. Before he can see how much damage he has done to Claudius, Thek is grabbed by Brutus. The man quickly pulls him forward into an upcoming knee. The knee catches Thek right in the mid-section knocking the air out of him. Before he can bring himself upright again, Thek feels a vicious blow to the back of his head. The force of the blow knocks him down to his hands and knees.

Thek is certain that he is about to get the crap kicked out of him when he hears the marching boots of guards entering the cell block. At the sound of the marching, Cladius, Phillip, and Brutus hustle over a corner and huddle down as if nothing had happened.

Just as he catches his breath and rises to his feet, Thek hears the unmistakable sound of keys in the cell door. The door swings open and a guard marches in. The guard is a big man but lightly armored and carrying a single wand. The rest of the guard contingent waits outside the door.

The guards eyes quickly scan the room. His eyes settle on Thek before he speaks,
"Ro'thek the Swift. Please come with me."

Thek stands up breathing heavily and slightly shaken. His flexs his freshly bloodied palms and shoots back towards the three men before he finally exits the cell.

Thek follows the guard, debating what to do about Cladius, Phillip, and Brutus. Upon arriving at their location he tells the guard that Brutus had stolen a knife from the kitchen and was planning on using it to kill a guard in an escape attempt. His accomplises would be Cladius and Phillip. Thek said he had overheard them while he was trying to sleep the night before.

The guards quickly surround Ro'thek when he exits the cell. In mere moments the cell door closes behind them and they go marching off through the prison. About forty-five minutes later, they arrive in front of a door where Ro'thek tells the tale of his cell mates planning an escape. Without warning, the big man backhands Ro'thek across the face leaving a huge welt on his cheek.

"Just what are you hoping to get out of this ... snitch? The man snarls in disgust at Ro'thek.

"I was merely trying to protect the reputation of Blackstone as being the largest hell hole of the material plane."

With this Thek quickly opens the door and steps into whatever room lies behind it.

Thek is swift, but not swift enough to get the door open and slip into the room before the guard can touch Thek with his wand. Thek's muscles immediately go limp. He struggles to remain upright and in control of his motor functions.

Despite his best efforts, Thek fails and slumps to the ground. The guard bends down until he is face to face with Thek.

"You are the most contemptible of prisoners Ro'Thek the Swift. Willing to sell out your fellow prisoners for what ... a little revenge. You are a worthless piece of dung!"

The guard then spits in Thek's face before rising and giving orders to his fellow guards.

"Take him in the room and sit him on a chair. Then go and drag Brutus and Phillip from the cell and have them executed. Make it known that Thek ratted them out. That should indeed protect the reputation of this hellhole."
