Kaspar's fight

Blackstone Prison is one of the many dirty little secrets of
the Empire. It is the deepest, darkest, dankest, hellhole imaginable and where the Empire houses a collection of hardened criminals, 'political' prisoners, and those unlucky few who simply needed to disappear. Blackstone Prison was one of those places that everyone has heard about but was unwilling to talk about in polite company. Poor living conditions, horrible nutrition, forced labor, and a brutal sadistic humanoid guard force ensured that no one ever escaped from Blackstone.

You are a prisoner at Blackstone. It may have been days, weeks, months, or even years since you were incarcerated, but the indominatable force of Blackstone is beginning to crush any hope you have that you will ever leave Blackstone alive.

Kaspar's fight

Post by chameleon » Thu December 08 05 ; 2 33 pm

After waiting all of this time, the two guards who were to face Kaspar stepped to the center of the room. One of the guards wore a light chain shirt and carried a hand bow while two long swords rested comfortably at his waist. The other guard also wore a light chain shirt and carried a hand bow and a pair of short swords which rested comfortably in their scabbards. The two guards ten feet apart and circle toward Kaspar. The guards are thirty feet away from where Kaspar stands.

Kaspar moves quickly towards the guard who is further to his left, doing a couple of small flips when he gets close to the guard so as to avoid any atacks whilst moving (Tumble +14), he positions himself as far away as he can from the other guard before directing a punch towards the nearer guard.

(OOC: Stunning fist attack)(Unarmed: +8, 1D8+2 DMG)

As soon as Kaspar begins his move toward the guardman on the left, the guardsman on the right fires his hand bow. Kaspar easily dodges the arrow which clatters harmlessly off of the warehouse wall and on the floor. At the same time the guardsman he is moving toward fires his hand bow. Despite Kaspar’s best effort, the arrow flies true and strikes the unarmed warrior in the arm. The pain of the arrow is slight, but there is a burning sensation as whatever was on the arrow pumps itself into Kaspar’s system. Much like Wylan before him, Kaspar suddenly feels very tired as if his limbs are heavy and will not continue to support him.

Despite the leadenness of his limbs, Kaspar tumbles in on the attack. He rolls to the far side of the left guardsman so the guardsman on the right won’t have another direct shot at him. Coming up on the balls of his feet, Kaspar lashes out and strikes the man smack dab in the center of his chest. Kaspar hears the air go out of the man’s lungs, but it doesn’t knock him off of his feet.

OODM: I’ll need a save roll vs. Poison. Please just include it in your next post. Thanks, Cham.

Wylan grits his teeth in empathic pain. "Fight through it!" is all he can offer the belaboured hand-to-hand fighter.

Kaspar winces slightly at the arrow, and hopes that his metabolism is strong enough to fight the poison which was on the arrow (ooc: i rolled a 10. + 4 = 14), he hears wylan's shout, and he hopes he can fight through it. He then continues to attack the opponent he is next to, pummeling him.

(OOC: flurry of blows (-2 penalty, 2 attacks) unless enemy moves, then move (tumbling to avoid attacks) to follow opponent, followed by normal attack.

Despite his limbs feeling increasingly heavier, Kaspar strikes out. His blows have no force behind them and glance off the guardsman without doing damage. Kaspar’s eyes close shut and he slowly slips to the floor in a deep slumber.

Quickly one of the priest guardsman rushes out and lays hand on Kaspar. A silver glow surrounds the priest’s hands and moves on to surround Kaspar’s body. When the priest is done, the two men who had been fighting Kaspar put down their weapons and gently carry the monk to a cot and lay him down.

Ten minutes later, Kaspar’s eyes flutter open. Other than a slight headache, Kaspar feels perfectly fine.

Wylan bites his lip in frustration, "Not fair," he wants to cry out but he knows that such a stupid comment would only earn the disdain of the guardsmen and, perhaps, Kith as well. Still, once they began to fight as a unit, those guards would end up with their poisoned bolts shoved up their arses...

When Kaspar woke up he cursed to himself, he was dissapointed with his performance, and annoyed that he weant down, without putting more than a bruise on the guards, though hopefully he would get another chance to prove himself.

Surprisingly it was Kith who approached him as soon as his eyelids fluttered open. “Don’t be so disappointed in your performance. I’m afraid that the guardsmen are trying to teach us a lesson and have set us up to fail. They knew what to expect out of us and you weren’t completely sure what to expect out of them. Our opponents in the Land Below won’t be so prepared and we’ll have plenty more opportunity to pay the guards back for this slight.”

Kith walked away a few steps and began to limber up in preparation for his encounter with the guards. Moments later six guardsmen step into the center of the room. One is unarmored and unarmed except for a hand bow. The rest wear the same light chain that Kith wears. Two carry bucklers and a hand bow with a long sword strapped to their side and the remaining three are armed with dual long swords.

Kith smirked and looked over to the seargent,
“Six?!? Six?!? I certainly hope they are better trained than the ones I met outside of Perth otherwise I hope you have six graves dug for them already.”

Wylan simply arches an eyebrow at the banter and exchanges a meaningful look with Issy.

Isi smirks, seeing Wylan's glance. She had no qualms right now about watching Kith single-handedly face six guards. She sits back on her seat, arms folded, head cocked to one side, ready for the entertainment.

Kaspar watched Kiths fight, interested in the outcome, after Kith had just been so cocky. He also pondered on what Kith had said, and was pleased that his loss was justified, and the hope that he might get a chance to show everyone his worth.

As the six guardsmen assemble in the middle of the warehouse, Kith makes his move. Not quite sure of how to react to this sudden attack, the guardsmen hesitate for just the second it takes for Kith to be among them. Kith targets the sole guardsman who is unarmed and without armor. Two slashes from Kith’s long swords and the guardsman lies on warehouse floor in a rapidly expanding pool of blood.

As the guardsmen focus their efforts on Kith, you hear the man mumble out something and suddenly the center of the warehouse is filled with a globe of utter darkness. Two bolts fly out from within the darkness wildly striking the warehouse walls. Inside the darkness the former prisoners hear the distinct sound of steel on steel as swords clash against one another. Then a scream fills the warehouse and you hear a body hit the floor. The sound of steel on steel resumes almost immediately but half a minute later the sound of another body hitting the floor escapes the darkened area in the middle of the warehouse.

The next sound you hear is that of one of the soldiers issuing an order to move out of the darkness. The careful shuffling of booted feet on the stone floor can be heard for a second, before you hear the sound of steel on steel as you assume Kith attacks one of the retreating soldiers. The battle is short and you hear another body hit the warehouse floor.

Two of the guardsmen escape the circle of darkness one on the right and one on the left. Seconds later, Kith appears on the left side of the darkeness blood dripping from swords. Without a moment’s hesitation, Kith attacks and the guardsman cries out for help. Kith easily parries the slashes from the guardman’s long swords and strikes out with two of his own hitting the guardsman’s arm and leg.

The guardsman on the right rushes back into the darkness to help his friend on the left side of the darkness. The first guardsman strikes out and clips Kith on the arm. Kith grimaces but accepts the blow before striking out again. Sparks fly as the guardsman manages to parry one of the blows accepting a minor cut from the other. The other guardsman appears out of the darkness once again giving the guardsmen the advantage in numbers.

Kith’s long swords are a blur of motion as he goes to work blocking the two guardsmen’s attacks. Whenever there is an opening, you see Kith’s swords slash out scoring a strike on his opponents. Unfortunately for the warrior, he also makes a few mistakes accepting several hits in return. Finally, the guardsman on the right slips through Kith’s defenses and drives his long sword into Kith’s shoulder. The warrior starts to slump forward and the guardsman on the left rushes in to take advantage.

Only too late does the guardsman realize his error as Kith rolls forward beyond the guardsman whirls in perfect balance and drives both of his swords into the guardsman’s back. The guardsman hangs suspended in air for a moment until Kith withdraws his swords leaving the guardsman to fall to the floor. The remaining guardsman grimaces and flies in a fury at Kith.

Kith stumbles backward working furiously with his long swords to keep his opponent at bay. Slowly Kith gives ground working his way around to re-enter the darkness. Realizing this, the guardsman takes a chance hoping to take Kith down with one final blow. With a fury, the guardsman strikes down. Kith manages to partially block the blow, but it still bites deep into his shoulder causing him to drop the blocking sword. The guardsman smiles and raises his sword to finish the job. The smile turns to surprise when he feels Kith’s second sword slam into his midsection. Both of the guardsman’s swords drop from his hands and clatter when they strike the warehouse floor. Seconds later, the guardsman falls like a chopped tree joining his swords on the floor.

Kith turns to the other guardsmen who fill the room, a look of murderous rage filling his eyes. The warrior shudders and groans as if he is fighting within himself while the remaining guardsmen draw their weapons in preparation to defend themselves. Kith stops shuddering and his arms drop to his sides. He sheaths his weapons and begins to walk toward his fellow trainees.

Wylan arches his eyebrows in surpirse. He's embaressed to admit to himself how envious of Kith's talents he is, but more important is the other question that comes to his mind.

So why keep us along? We'll obviously only slow him down. Are we to be fodder? To run support for him? It will be hard standing in this one's shadow for the next few weeks, but now the large man can see where Kith's arrogance comes from: he's entitled to it.

Isadora glared at Kith as he walked towards her and her comrades. She could not believe what she had just seen, yet somehow she could not bring herself to say the words 'how did you do that?' She hoped that this arrogant man would take the liberty of explaining without her having to humble herself towards him and ask for his explanation.
